Illegal counterfeiting can leave a company open to loss of sales, product liability issues, and destruction of brand confidence due to inferior imitations. GSI offers two preventive measures:
- Security Thread — For both our flexo and our screen printed label products, we can apply a “security thread” as narrow as .0625” permanently micro-etched with a company’s name or coded information in fonts as small as .01325”. This thread is so reliable as an anti-counterfeit measure that it is used in government currencies around the world. This is an overt preventive measure that is unobtrusive and yet easily identified by a company or its customers.
- Security Inks — GSI also offers a covert measure, utilizing an organic phosphor mixed with our inks or varnishes and printed on a label. This mark, or legend, is invisible to the naked eye, but when exposed to a “reader” it will light up and/or cause the reader to emit an audible tone.
GSI can also combine these two technologies to provide a multi-level solution.
